about

Accompanying the album is a few short sentences for every track, detailing the creation and process of the music.

1. TURN IT UP
The Intro to the album was primarily recorded in Conor’s bathroom over a phone conversation.
Within the recording is a friends dog whining and a sound byte of Kamil screaming at a jam session at the Old England.

2. lasagun v8
It was constructed almost entirely out of an iPad recording session in Kamil's room. The iPad recorded Conor's guitar through a tiny practice amp as well as human hums and clicks that formed the glitchy 7/8 groove of the song.
This is truly the 8th version of the track.

3. brian
Kamil: It consists of pitched/stretched vocal hums, kitchen cutlery and a neighbour’s dog barking. This is the birth of titular brian.
Conor: The 808 sound was something Kamil was messing around with that I thought had no chance of becoming anything useable but somehow he managed to turn a recording of him hitting a pan from the other side of the room into the weightiest donk on the album.

4. martha (brian's dad)
Kamil: Martha is Conor’s little sister dropping some freestyle bars about her love of coffee and various other topics. Contrary to popular belief, Martha is not actually brian’s dad.
Conor: Song sample came from Martha and I on holiday in Minorca speaking into a fan to get weird alien noises. She's saying "ok" because my other sister is angrily asking her to stop. This song also has no known BPM because it wasn't made to the grid, Burial style.

5. me@the.zoo
Conor: Kind of a garage vibe to this one almost. Basically every song on this album leans into a certain subgenre of electronic music, and this beat was flirting with a couple but never amounting to anything. Then I added the really dry snare and everything fell into place.
Kamil: Like much of the album, it's an ode to YouTube and the internet as a whole. Elephants have really really really really really really really really long...

6. scrt rvrb
The missing letters in this song title are _e__e_ _e_e__
Kamil: Originally constructed by Kamil from sampling one of Conor’s guitar riffs, it was later developed into an onoami track.
Conor: A good example of the online collaboration that makes up a good third of this album. The song got better and better every time it was sent across the pond.

7. harry (brian's son)
Kamil: Harry Furniss’ cornet playing, at COME ALT JAM in Bristol, is a major component to this instrumental. The opening is a real voicemail Kamil has no recollection of having left on Conor’s phone.
Conor: Drums are currently also in two other old works in progress that I may finish sometime in the future so look out for those maybe.

8. onoami
This self-titled beat was the first one made by Conor and Kamil collaboratively. It ended up creating a formula that would be quite integral to our sound; noisy dark sounds, strange samples and occasional guitar.
The original title shall not be revealed to the public. Although, if you recognise the subtle bed of conversation underneath the beat you might be able to guess.

9. WHO ARE YOU
Conor: A good example of us squeezing as much out of a sample as possible. There's also a Crazy Frog sample doing a very important sound you might not realise.
Kamil: In the outro to this musical project, we ask a philosophical question, WHO ARE YOU? Deeper meaning is open to interpretation.
